PRIVATE GEORGE ADAMS George Edward Adams was the son of Edward Adams and Harriett Fearn.
In 1888 Harriett married Edward Adams in St Michael's Church, Willington. Census returns for 1891 show Edward and Harriett living in Willington village. Edward Adams, Head, 30 years old born Brailsford, General labourer. Census returns for 1901. Edward Adams, Head, 40 years old, Railway labourer. born Brailsford. Mary Elizabeth, their daughter, married Joseph Kendrick, in 1912, and had five children, Hilda, Gertrude, George, Nora and Gladys. Gladys, now Mrs Twigg, gave me the photographs of her uncles, George and Thomas, at St Helen's Church, Etwall, during Well-Dressing Weekend, 2007. George is buried in the cemetery at Corbie, 15 kilometres east of Amiens, in Northern France. The majority of the officers and men buried here died of wounds suffered in the Battle of the Somme, 1916.
